UDDI / Universal Description, Discovery, and Integration
UUDI is an XML-based registry for businesses worldwide to list
themselves on the Internet. Its ultimate goal is to streamline
online transactions by enabling companies to find one another on the
Web and make their systems interoperable for e-commerce. UDDI is
often compared to a telephone book's white, yellow, and green pages.
The project allows businesses to list themselves by name, product,
location, or the Web services they offer.
UDP / User Datagram Protocol
The Internet standard protocol for sending datagrams between user
programs. This protocol neither guarantees delivery nor does it
require a connection. As a result it is lightweight and efficient,
but all error processing and retransmission must be taken care of by
the application program. This protocol is built on top of IP and
uses IP for datagram delivery (see TCP/IP).
UIML / User Interface Markup Language
UIML is a descriptive language that lets you create a Web page that
can be sent to any kind of interface device. UIML is an application
of the Extensible Markup Language (XML). One can think of it as the
XML description that describes the data structure (names of fields
or elements) of a user interface.
Unicode
Unicode is an entirely new idea in setting up binary codes for text
or script characters. Officially called the Unicode Worldwide
Character Standard, it is a system for "the interchange, processing,
and display of the written texts of the diverse languages of the
modern world." It also supports many classical and historical texts
in a number of languages.
Unix
An operating system, the inspiration behind much modern software and
the code on which the Internet was originally built. Invented by Ken
Thompson at AT&T's Bell Labs in 1969, the original purpose of Unix
was apparently to provide a way for its author to play games on his
computer. It quickly turned into an enormously powerful and secure
system capable of supporting big networks, and is now used by
everyone from small academic institutions to huge ISPS.
Unix / Linux Hosting
Unix or Linux hosting defines the services of housing, serving, and
maintaining files for one or more Web sites on Unix or Linux web
server at high speed Internet connection.
Upload
To transfer information from a local computer to a remote one, such
as a Web server, across a network or modem connection.
URI / Uniform Resource Identifier
To paraphrase the World Wide Web Consortium, Internet space is
inhabited by many points of content. A URI is the way you identify
any of those points of content. The most common form of URI is the
Web page address, which is a particular form or subset of URI called
a URL.
URL / Uniform Resource Locator
An address widget that identifies a document or resource on the WWW.
URL-minder
URL-minder is an agent or robot that notifies you when a particular
Web page has changed.
URN / Uniform Resource Name
A URN is an Internet resource with a name that has persistent
significance - that is, the user of the URN can expect that someone
else (or a program) will be able to find the resource. A URN looks
something like a Web page address or URL.
Usenet
Where newsgroups live. At the end of the 20th century Usenet was
home to over 30,000 of the these discussion groups, each dedicated
to a specific topic and each containing a bewildering range of
conversations.
Username
A unique name or identification assigned to a user of a computer
system. Sometimes used synonymously with address.
Uuencode
A technique for encoding binary files and messages into a form that
can be sent via e-mail.

year.Minimize your website expenses
If you are unusual about hosting and if you are still in the
development and testing stage of your website, go for cheap
hosting service. You save money by minimizing your website
expenses on the initial stage, and once your site is ready
for public to view, you can always decide to stay or move to
another host. Always choose to host with reliable hosts that
offer responsive technical support.
Read user reviews and hosting news
If you already have a host, and you intend to switch and
search for another host, always start your search by reading
user reviews and hosting news. This is simply because
hosting companies that are always in the news are always
innovating to provide better, cheaper, faster, newer or more
efficient hosting services in the current marketplace. User
review are comments provided by the people who have used and
experienced their hosting services. Read users reviews to
