The addition of control information to a Packet Data Unit (PDU) by a
protocol entity to the data obtained from a protocol user.
Encoder
A program that converts data from one form to another, often with
the aim of reducing its size.
Encryption
The conversion of a message or data file into a form that cannot be
understood by unauthorized readers. Encryption is the technology
that makes E-Commerce possible because it underlies the security
systems used to protect electronic financial transactions.
End-to-End Management
The concept of End-to-End means that "something" is considered as a
whole, even though it may be constructed or provided using multiple
constituents distributed over several domains. For instance, an
end-to-end world-wide telecommunications service is offered as a
single item to its customers or the end-to-end telecommunications
management of an environment results from the management of each
constituent domain.

e-procurement is the business-to-business purchase and sale of
supplies and services over the Internet. Typically, e-procurement
Web sites allow qualified and registered users to look for buyers or
sellers of goods and services.
Ethernet
Local Area Network (LAN) protocol invented by Xerox Corporation.
It is a broadcast protocol that uses CSMA/CD method and utilizes
electrical cables. It can run at various speeds: 10Mbps, 100Mbps and
even 1000Mbps. IEEE 802.3 standard describes Ethernet. Word Ethernet
is also sometimes used to describe the implementation that runs at
the speed of 10Mbps.
Extranet
A part of the company's network that is made accessible for some
group of people. Sometimes protected by a password or some other
kind of authentication. It allows users to access some of the
non-public data, eg. a person's credit card balance. Eudora

Macintosh users.
EULA / End User License Agreement
EULA is a legal contract between a software application author or
publisher and the user of that application.
e-wallet
This is an application, stored either on a Web server or with a Web
browser, that conveniently stores and manages a consumer's billing,
shipping, and payment information to streamline interations with Web
merchants. It is also called a virtual wallet. Typically,
information in the wallet is encrypted and is persistent from
session to session.
Extranet
A network built on standard Internet technology, typically used by
an organization to share information with customers, suppliers and
other business partners. An extranet is generally an extension of a
company's Intranet, modified to allow access by specified external
users.
